Caterham caught 'testing' during 'filming day'

In a cheeky move, Caterham have allegedly been caught 'testing' new parts for the CT03 during a 'filming day'. After Ferrari and Mercedes were caught testing new parts on their cars in 2010 during their filming days, a clarification of the rules were issued to rule out any ambiguity.

The clarification banned teams, during filming days, from running any parts that have not been raced before and that teams are not allowed to try out new parts, mid season, away from a Grand Prix meeting.

In between his Friday practice outings in Bahrain and the forthcoming Spanish GP in Barcelona, Heikki Kovalainen was this week again been back in action at the wheel of Caterham’s 2013 car.

In heavy rain, the Finn – newly signed up to a reserve and development role with Tony Fernandes’ struggling team – drove at Magny Cours for a ‘filming day’.

But Caterham may also have been testing new parts, as photos of the French test have revealed the CT03 with a new ‘vanity panel’ covering the usual stepped nose.

“We managed to get everything done,” former Caterham team racer Kovalainen said on Twitter. (GMM)
